Hands On Training

The Wood Construction Center of Seattle Central Community College is among the most comprehensive technical training facilities for the wood construction trades in Washington. Each program provides unique educational and hands-on training opportunities for both new and experienced workers. Programs include core training in safety, skills, tools, and materials with three distinct wood construction trade programs:

Cabinetmaking & Fine Woodworking Cabinetmaking & Fine Woodworking Build skills in residential and commercial cabinetry, furniture construction, and many specialized areas of fine woodworking.

Carpentry Learn the basics of home construction, from blueprint reading and site prep to roof vents and trim fitting.

Marine Carpentry (Boatbuilding) Gain the expertise to launch a career in wooden and fiberglass boatbuilding, boat repair and related industries.

The Wood Construction Center also offers evening community education classes at a variety of skill levels.

Building for the future

Beginning in 2010, the Carpentry program will be housed on the Georgetown campus of South Seattle Community College while the Seattle Central Wood Construction Center undergoes major renovation that will provide state-of-the-art shops, skills labs and classroom spaces.
