The Seattle Community Colleges Chancellor invites applications for the president of Seattle Central Community College
Seattle Central Community College has served more than 500,000 students since opening in 1966. Seattle Central is an urban campus, located minutes from downtown Seattle.
In addition to Seattle Centrals downtown campus, our facilities include the Seattle Vocational Institute, the Seattle Maritime Academy, and the Wood Construction Center.
Seattle Central serves more than 17,000 students each year with a student population that is among the most diverse in the state. More than 50 percent of our students are people of color; many are the first in their family to attend college. Seattle Central also has a large international student population, representing more than 50 nations.
Seattle Central enjoys a national reputation for its academic excellence. About 500 students transfer to a four-year college or university from Seattle Central each year. The college also offers 30 professional/technical programs, as well as distance education and continuing education. In 2009, Seattle Central introduced a bachelors degree in Applied Behavioral Science.
Seattle Centrals current president is retiring after seven years as president and more than 30 years at Seattle Central. The position is open until filled. First consideration will be given to applications received by March 19.
